Welcome to My Unleaded Life!

Thank you for checking out my brand-new website. I have looked forward to this day for a long time. This blog is and probably always will be a work-in-progress, but finally the time comes when we must just jump in and do the thing we want to do because the timing or the design or the structure or whatever will never be exactly perfect. So here we go with my very first blog post.

What is an Unleaded Life?

The inspiration for the title of my blog comes from the Bible– Hebrews 12-1-2: Let us strip off every weight and sin that ensnares us and let us run with patient endurance the race God has set before us. Now sometimes my life feels like a track meet where my event is a cross between the hurdles and a relay race. It feels like I am constantly trying to finish the course, but first I must jump over each obstacle that stands in my way and then I must reach out and pass along the things I have learned to other runners in this race of life.  We all have hurdles in our paths and we all should strive to pass on what we learn to those that are in this race with us, especially those on our “team” – our families, friends and other Christians. As we run this race, we will want to lay aside or cast off everything that weights us down and holds us back. We must focus our eyes on the one who is the Author and Finisher of our race: Jesus.

We each have a life to live– a path to walk– a race to run. We all have issues and trials in our lives. Each person’s  struggle is different: illness, disability, financial, addiction, prodigal children, family issues or divorce. The list is as diverse as each person reading this blog. We also have seasons of joy and refreshing. I endure some of the same issues as you. I have experienced times of  suffering and times of blessing. Sometimes we need encouragement, inspiration and help to set aside the habits, attitudes and (gulp) sins that hold us back and cause extra suffering. Sometimes there is nothing we have done to cause the problem and there is nothing we can do to change it. In those times, we need encouragement and compassion from those around us.

God’s Not Finished With Me

There is a children’s song from years ago that said “please be patient, God’s still working on me”. So just like that cute little song, I know God is still working on me, too. This blog will grow and change in the weeks, months and, hopefully, years to come. The design will change, the topics will vary and the audience will grow. My desire is that while my blog grows, I will grow and change, also. The list of things I want to change in my life is probably similar to the list you would make for your life: appearance, habits, relationships, health, finances, the list could go on forever. Some of these things I have the power to change myself, some things can’t be changed not matter how hard I try (I’m 5’2″, I will never be able to reach the top cabinet shelf  by myself ), and some things can only be changed through Divine intervention.

Coming Soon

The purpose of  Unleaded is to provide encouragement, inspiration and  practical help for your daily life. I have learned some solid truths through the trials. The first lesson is that God is Faithful. Always. The second is that sharing our burdens and trials makes them easier to bear. In the coming weeks you can expect posts with: humor, compassion, practical tips and tricks, recipes (yay!) and lots of encouragement.  All from a Christian perspective.

Bookmark MyUnleadedLife.com and come back next week. You will be encouraged!
